Sereiko selected to lead medicine group; Klauer takes the helm at health information organization; more departures and arrivals

Sereiko promoted at medicine group

The American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation announced Tracy J. Sereiko has been appointed CEO and executive director, effective Feb. 1, 2024. She will succeed Thomas Stautzenbach who announced his plans to step down earlier this year after leading since 2005.

“We are delighted with the search process and confident in the leadership impact that Tracy Sereiko will have on the Academy’s trajectory using her deep understanding of the specialty of PM&R and extensive executive experience,” said D.J. Kennedy, president of AAPM&R.

Sereiko joined AAPM&R in 2010 and currently holds the position of associate executive director of specialty engagement and market development. Previously, she spent five years at consultant firm SmithBucklin, most recently as senior manager of marketing and communications services.

She has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Klauer named CEO of health information association

The American Health Information Management Association has appointed Kevin Klauer to be the group’s next CEO, effective Jan. 8, 2024. Amy Mosser has served as interim CEO since June following the departure of former CEO Wylecia Wiggs Harris. Wiggs Harris is now the CEO of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. 

“(Kevin’s) experience and expertise make him uniquely suited to help AHIMA achieve its organizational objectives. With Dr. Klauer at the helm, we eagerly anticipate a bright future, working together to advance the AHIMA mission of empowering people to impact health,” said Jennifer Mueller, AHIMA president and chair of the board.

Klauer was most recently chief medical officer at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. During his career, he has also served as CEO of the American Osteopathic Association, a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University, Ohio University and the University of Tennessee and spent seven years at health care company TeamHealth, most recently as enterprise chief risk officer.

He has a bachelor’s degree from North Central College and a doctorate from Des Moines University.

Grande was most recently chief commercial officer at American Trucking Associations, where he spent two years. Previously, he worked for SmithBucklin for two years as general manager and vice president of sales.

USTelecomBen Elleson is joining USTelecom as senior director of government affairs. He has spent the past 12 years at the U.S. House of Representatives, most recently as a senior policy advisor to Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.).
